This makes the i3+ an excellent choice for people who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it fills up.
Both robots do well picking up surface debris off hard floors and carpets, and they're very adept at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we have test. It can be stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like carpet and hardwood.
iRobot recommends clearing areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include clearing out any clutter or toys it may come across. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station and automatically empties its trash into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning where it started. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant usage. It takes 3 hours to charge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most important feature of all -- it comes with an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot through the app or by voice.
The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session, move itself around the room and vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world filled with vacuums that are cordless and are like minivans and buses, this tiny Dyson model is an old-fashioned sports car. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households, but it also fits nicely on the table for a coffee or a bookshelf where you can move it around like the magic device.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then releases cleaner air into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpet to suck up large dust and crumbs. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to suit the task. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to floor.
The model also comes with docks that charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and offers easy access to two attachments as well as an clip for a wand. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The V10's biggest drawback is its limited run time. The claims of its marketing that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered vacuum's run time. It's enough time to vacuum the average-sized home but not enough to reach every spot. (A second time generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums The 694 is an entry-level model that's an excellent option for those who don't wish to spend too much on a robot. It could pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes in our tests and would often go over the same area several times for an extensive clean. Its flat front end helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice feature.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it isn't equipped with the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top selections such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. This means that it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often is power-depleted before making it back to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects, as it has fewer components that need regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in maneuvering itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, as it has a longer battery life, can change its suction power mode manually, comes with physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and performs better on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name that is found on all kinds of home electronics So it's no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.
The app gives you plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is easy to use and understand as are other Samsung devices.
In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well with larger objects, like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we tested, which might be a deal-breaker for some shoppers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that can be accessed through the app, and you can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you monitor your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The filter and the dust bin can be cleaned for quick, easy cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that's self-emptying to keep the robot's dustbin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning run.
